Case Study: Utranazz Supplies Bespoke Concrete Mixer for Monkey Shoulder Whisky Festival Roadshow
Overview
Utranazz, Concrete Equipment Specialists, was approached by the marketing team behind Monkey Shoulder Whisky, part of William Grant & Sons, to supply and customise a bespoke concrete mixer for a nationwide promotional roadshow.
The project centred around creating an eye-catching, mobile cocktail bar that could tour UK festivals and events, supporting Monkey Shoulder’s strategy to challenge perceptions of Scotch whisky and position it as fun, approachable, and “made for mixing.”
Client Challenge
Monkey Shoulder required a promotional vehicle that would:
- Act as a fully functional mobile cocktail bar
- Stand out in busy festival and event environments
- Hold and dispense large volumes of pre-mixed whisky cocktails
- Integrate entertainment features such as music and live performance
- Be robust, mobile, and reliable for a nationwide touring schedule
A standard vehicle could not deliver the visual impact or functionality required, making a customised concrete mixer the ideal platform.
Utranazz’s Bespoke Solution: The Monkey Shoulder Mixer
Utranazz supplied a concrete mixer and worked closely with the Monkey Shoulder team to help adapt it for its new role as a festival centrepiece.
The result was the 11,000-litre “Monkey Mixer”—a striking, multi-functional promotional vehicle capable of holding lots of bottles of Monkey Shoulder whisky!
Key Custom Features
High-Capacity Mixing Drum
The mixer drum was adapted to store and dispense large volumes of pre-mixed cocktails, ensuring fast, efficient service at high-footfall events.
Mobile Bar Integration
A built-in, retractable bar with multiple taps allows cocktails to be served directly from the mixer.
Entertainment & Audio Setup
The vehicle features a DJ booth and powerful sound system, turning the mixer into a focal point for live entertainment.
Visual Impact Design
The mixing drum doubles as a disco ball, delivering strong visual impact both day and night and reinforcing the brand’s playful personality.
Role in the Promotional Campaign
The Monkey Shoulder Mixer tours festivals and events across the UK, encouraging consumers to sample whisky cocktails in a fun, informal environment.
Its role includes:
- Serving signature cocktails such as the “Boom Box” (Monkey Shoulder whisky, cold press coffee liqueur, vanilla, and coconut water)
- Dispensing the “Mixed Up Monkey” (Monkey Shoulder whisky, mint syrup, soda, and lemon)
- Acting as a live brand activation platform supported by music, DJs, and social engagement
Conclusion
The Monkey Shoulder Mixer is another example of Utranazz’s ability to deliver bespoke, non-traditional equipment solutions. By adapting a concrete mixer into a mobile cocktail bar and entertainment platform, Utranazz helped bring Monkey Shoulder’s brand to life on the road—proving that concrete equipment can play a key role in creative marketing campaigns.
